I hate work?
I don't know if I do really.
But nothing motivates me.
All I want to do really, is LEAVE.

The official end of Promos on Wednesday, the 1st October, was immediately followed by an entire day of intensive MT and PW the very next day. For those unfortunate enough to end only on Wednesday and not earlier, pity, but no marking day holidays for them. Thursday and Friday afternoons were also fully packed by the Post-Exam activities, which a great many were not happy to attend.
However, the worst is yet to come.
Eight hour days of nothing but PW is what J1s have to look forward to for the next two weeks. From 8am to 4pm everyday from Monday to Friday, they will be toiling over the various components of their PW. This is greeted by much displeasure and indignation from the student population due to the ‘frustrating never-ending cycle of work without a longer break’ as a student from 08S15 who prefers to remain anonymous, so aptly describes the situation.
The long hours of incessant work is also a source of unhappiness, as most of the time is not spent productively, with many, mooching around doing nothing. Members of the student population find that excessive time given, with or without supervision to complete work, is in fact, not beneficial to completion of the project.
Admittedly, the two weeks of time given for preparation for the imminent Oral Presentations and completion of the Written Reports, has not gone totally wasted. Huizhen from 08A06, is actually ‘happy’ that there is something for her to do so that she will not be tempted to laze around aimlessly, and provides her with the motivation to complete her PW to the best of her ability which she would not have had if a break had been planned for the J1s. Also, the time provided during school hours, gives the group plenty of time to discuss and work together, which they would not have if lessons had resumed instead. Also, consultations with the various PW teachers, which would not be readily available otherwise, is now at the disposal of the J1s.
Though it is torturous to be forced to conclude and evaluate a year’s worth of research and analysis on something that is barely beneficial as a subject, the fact that it will end in mid-November which is four weeks away, should be kept in mind. That is, until next year where we will suffer even more until the A levels are over.
But at the very least... one paper down, six more to go.
